Trio of Tigers Score Double Digits In Win Against Muskingum

New Concord, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's basketball team goes into the winter break on a winning note, taking down the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum University, 80-61 on Tuesday night on the road. The Tigers took a 38-31 advantage into the half, shooting 37 percent from the field. Sophomore Kristie Kalis led the Wittenberg scoring effort on the evening, recording a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Game Breakdown

After Muskingum started the game with the early lead, Wittenberg fought back to within one by the end of the first quarter. Wittenberg found their stride in the second quarter, taking a 20-14 advantage with just over six minutes before the break. The Tigers maintain their 38-30 lead going into the break. Kalis would reel in seven of her 10 rebounds, dishing out two assists and tallying a steal before the break. Wittenberg fended off the Muskingum second-half attack, forcing 13 turnovers. The Tigers scored 29 points on 25 Muskingum turnovers on the night. The Tigers would go on to outscore Muskingum 24-14 in the final quarter to hold on to the 80-61 win.

Who Stood Out

A trio of Tigers finished in double figures on the night, including McKenna Baker pouring in 16 points going 5 of 11 from the field and five of eight from the charity stripe. Baker added two rebounds, two assists, and two steals on the night. Abigail Yunker tallied 11 points, going four of five from the field, and knocking down one of two looks from beyond the arc. Yunker tallied four rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Alex Kiess and Delaney Williams would each add eight points. Williams would also contribute six assists, five steals, and two rebounds.
