Tigers Host Top Competiton During Round Robin Weekend

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Volleyball team went 1-2 on the weekend, facing off against regional opponents and nationally ranked competition. The Tigers started the weekend with a win, taking down the Spartans from Aurora University 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-21), on Friday evening. Wittenberg returned to action on Saturday for two top 25 matches. The Tigers faced off against AVCA No. 4 Juniata to start the day, falling in a hard-fought four-set battle, 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 17-25, 14-25). Wittenberg closed out their weekend against AVCA No. 1 Carthage College, falling 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-18).

Over the three-match span on the weekend, the Tigers compiled a .184 hitting-percentage on the weekend. Tom Supan led the Tiger attack on the weekend with 24 kills. Supan averaged 2.4 kills/set, with a .190 hitting-percentage. Eli Halverson added 23 kills on 63 total swings, averaging 2.88 kills/set with a .190 clip. Michael Yurk was the final Tiger to add 20 kills over the weekend. Logging a .158 hitting-percentage, Yurk added three blocks up front to his total. Dominic Melchiorre tallied a team-high 10 blocks, finishing with 15 kills, while posting a .273 hitting-percentage.
