Tigers Celebrate Seniors with Victory

Springfield, OH -- Friday evening the Wittenberg men's volleyball team celebrated their two graduating athletes senior Russ Burke and graduate student Aaron Giorgi where the Tigers took down the Olivet Comets 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-11). Both players showed out for their senior night with Giorgi totaling 48 assists giving him the third most assists in a four set game and Burke with 22 digs giving him the record for most digs in a four set match. Giorgi had an impact on the front end and the back eight successful kills with 24 attempts and 11 digs.

Leading the front was junior Dominic Melchiorre with 19 kills with 47 attempts with six block assists putting major pressure on the Comets which in turn only allowed them a .043 kill percentage. Touching both offensive and defensive sides as well was junior Chris Goertz who had 13 kills and nine digs adding to the total 66. Goertz also collected two serving aces and a blocking assist. 

The Tigers will be back in action at Cornerstone University where they will take on the Golden Eagles on Friday, March, 25 at 6:00 p.m.
