Electric Win Gives Tigers Momentum Going Into the Weekend

Springfield, OH -- In a tight match in Pam Evans Smith Arena, the Wittenberg Men's Volleyball team came away with their first home victory of the season against the Adrian Bulldogs 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-22). The Red and White powered through the Bulldogs' heavy hitters with a strong defense, collecting 40 digs on the night. Seven of the eight players had at least one dig, with senior Russ Burke, graduate Aaron Giorgi, and freshman Aaron Miller each accumulating eight digs. Giorgi also tallied in 30 of the 32 total assists, adding five kills with 17 attempts and two serving aces, the last one being the game winner. 

The Tigers were carried by their strong rallies and kill attempts, which totaled at 91, 23 from Burke and 22 from junior Dominic MelchiorreBurke had 13 successful kills while Melchiorre added eight. The red and white ended their victory with a .242 kill percentage with 39 successful hits over the net and 12 total blocks.

Wittenberg will be back in action Saturday, February 12 at 12 p.m. against the Maryville Saints.
