Tigers Take Sixth Place At All-Ohio

This weekend was filled with fast performances and top conference marks, against some of the top division three track and field athletes in the state of Ohio. The Tiger's traveled to Ohio Wesleyan for the All-Ohio Outdoor Tack and Field Championships. Both teams had big performances with team finishes of sixth place out of 13 teams for the men, and the women also finished sixth out of 14 teams.

Meanwhile the day before on Friday, three Tiger's traveled to Tiffin, Ohio for the Tiffin Track Carnival. Senior Deven Ramsey placed eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.27. In the men's 5,000-meter run freshmen, Conor Kolka continues to have an outstanding season, with a new school record of 14:44.97, and he finished fourth overall. Meanwhile another record-breaking performance in the women's 5,000-meter run came from sophomore, Corin Turkovich, where she finished fifth overall in a time of 18:01.32.

Top performance at the All-Ohio Championships for the men came from freshmen Joshua Weisenberger finishing fourth in the men's javelin, with a throw of 43.76 meters. Then freshmen, Justin Norris, placed seventh with a throw of 38.63 meters. Norris was able to come back a claim first place in the men's high jump, taking the title with a jump of 1.93 meters. In long jump, Jack Houck jumped to a seventh-place finish with a distance of 6.34 meters. For triple jump freshmen Dustin Franks was fifth with a jump of 12.37 meters.

Moving to the track, the Tiger's started off with a third-place finish from senior, Cullen Saniey, in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 32:52.70. in the 3,000-meter steeplechase senior, Ryan Zimmerman, also claimed third place in 9:50.43. In the1,500-meter run junior, Evan Cordle was able to snag a point with an eighth-place finish in 4:06.16. Moving on to relays, the 4x100 meter realy team of Matthew Drovdlic, Jack Houck, Azad Robinson, and Matt Rogers claimed fourth in 43.21 seconds. While the 4x400 meter relay team of Caden Zellner, Ian McCandlish, Deven Ramsey, and Ezekiel Bennett took home second place in 3:22.76. in the hurdle events senior, Garrin Bachinski took fifth place in the 110-meter hurdles, and sixth in the 400-meter hurdles. In the 800-meter run, junior Ian McCandlish claimed third place with a time of 1:56.44. Junior, Dak Smith, was able to claim seventh place also in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:59.33. Wrapping up the day was Matthew Drovdlic finishing second in the 200-meter dash at 22.27 seconds.

The women had top performances, a school record performance, and first place finish from sophomore Sydney Khosla in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a new time of 11:35.90. Senior, Emma Scritchfield was fourth in 12:10.97, edging out fifth place by .04 seconds. In the 10,000-meter run senior, Elizabeth Canright took fifth place overall in a time of 41:27.36. Freshmen, Magen Keys not only took seventh place in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5:02.76; but she also came back in the 5,000-meter run claiming third place, running 18:36.11. Moving to hurdle sand sprints, freshmen, Reese Neumeyer captured fifth place in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.03 seconds, and eighth place in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:14.59. In the 400-meter dash freshmen, Kyngston Collins ran 1:01.39 earning her a third-place finish. In the 100-meter dash both freshmen, Meghan Frazier and Zora Shakhan claimed fourth and fifth places respectively. Frazier ran 12.83 seconds, while Shakhan ran 13.03 seconds. Both ladies would come back for the 200-meter dash where they were joined by teammate Haleigh Wilson. Wilson claimed fourth place overall in a time of 26.76, Frazier was sixth in 26.80 seconds, and Shakhan finsihed eighth in 27.02 seconds. For the relays, the 4x100-meter team of Shakhan, Frazier, Neumeyer, and Lindsey Magoteaux claimed second place in a time of 49.75 seconds. In the 4x400-meter relay team of Maxine Wishman, Collins, Lauren Welker, and Khosla took seventh place, running a time of 4:27.13. For the field events freshmen Taylor Weiss jumped a height of 1.53 meters to claim fifth place overall. Weiss also secured an eighth-place finish in triple jump, with a jump of 9.82 meters.
