Tigers Have Monumental Day Hosting Steemer Showcase

Springfield, OH- It was a record day for the Wittenberg Track & Field program, as the Tigers hosted their largest indoor meet to date since the grand opening of The Steemer. A total of 22 total teams, spanning from Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama and Ohio made the journey to Wittenberg's campus to compete in the Steemer Showcase. Highlighting the day for the Tigers, freshman Connor Kolka captured a sixth-place finish in the 5000-meter, setting a new Wittenberg record with a time of 14:56.62. Closing out the day for the Tigers in exciting fashion, the Wittenberg 4x400 relay team consisting of Caden Zellner, Zeke Bennett, Ian McCandlish and Deven Ramsey captured a second-place finish in a time of 3:22.55.

Bennett was able to earn a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash amongst the field of 44 competitors, posting a time of 49.62. In the 800-meter run the Tiger's had two top-eight finishers with McCandlish securing a fifth-place finish in a time of 1:54.75. Ramsey earned a seventh-place finish, clocking a time of 1:55.80. Matt Drovdlic posted a time of 22.83 in the 200-meter dash for the Red and White, earning a fifth-place finish amongst the field of 77 runners. Evan Cordle posted a 3000-meter time of 9:09.42, earning an eighth-place finish. Sam Callinan secured a fourth-place finish in the pole vault competition for the Tigers, clearing the bar set at a height of 4.14m. Justin Norris earned a tie for the sixth spot in the high jump competition, clearing the bar at 1.88m.

On the women's side, Reese Neumeyer secured an eighth-place finish in the 60 hurdles with a time of 11.01, fighting off the field that started out with 23 runners. Kyngston Collins worked her way up to a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash, clocking a time of 1:02.33, battling the field of 32. Lindsey Magoteaux continued to push the field, going to third decimal earning a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.897. Magoteaux returned in the 200-meter dash, earning a fourth-place finish amongst the field of 59 runners, with a time of 26.64. Sydney Khosla wrapped up the 3000-meter race in a time of 11:00.05, locking up the eighth-place spot. Over at the triple-jump competition, Taylor Weiss completed a leap of 9.67m, earning a sixth-place finish. Weiss also turned in an eighth-place finish at the high-jump competiton, clearing the bar at a height of 1.48m. Neumeyer earned a seventh-place finish in the pole vault competition, clearing the bar at a height of 2.92m.
