Steemer Showcase Brings All Divisions Together

Springfield, OH- The Tigers were back home to host the first ever Steemer Showcase which brought Division I, II, and III to Wittenberg. This was the third ever track meet in the new facility and the Tigers were ready to get after it with tough competition.

The Women: Hannah Eley placed ninth in the women's weight throw with a distance of 14.29m. Freshman, Leah Vogt picked up an eighth place finish and distance of 11.99m. Junior, Alexis Johnson went up against Division I athletes in the 60 m prelims and ended in seventh place with a time of 8.1 seconds and ended in seventh with a time of 8.13 in the finals. Ryelee Clary picked up a fourth place finish in the 60m hurdles with a finishing time of 9.08 seconds while Tiffany Moss finished in seventh at 9.77 seconds. Alexis Gray grabbed the top spot in the 1000 meter with a first place finish and time of 2:53.11.

The Men: Sophomores Gene Nobles and Paul Varnadoe tied for fourth in the men's high jump with a height of 1.78m. Varnadoe came back to place seventh in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.35m. Deven Ramsey picked up Wittenbergs first top spot in the running events with a third place finish in the 500 meter at 1:06.03.

Athlete Spotlight: Wittenberg's _ seniors were honored prior to the start of the meet. Seniors Hannah Eley, Alexis Gray, Ashley Highfield, Katie Hodson, Madison Nadler, Garrin Bachinski, Tyler Branton, Brandon Johnson, Jaycee Perry, Aaron Rutherford, and Johnathan Seay were honored for their achievements over the past four years at Wittenberg and celebrated as they head towards the end of the indoor season. The group will look to make an impact in the spring outdoor season to end their collegiate careers on a high note.

Up Next: The Tigers will be back on the track on Saturday, February 29th for the NCAC Championships in Granville, OH.
