Tigers Grab Second Conference Win

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg returned to Edwards-Maurer Field for their fifth conference match-up of the season. The Tigers took on the Gators of Allegheny, with a final score of 13-6 and a win for the Red & White to improve their conference record to 2-3.

The Tigers put up four goals in the first quarter to claim the lead early with goals from Connor Matthews (2), Julio Novarini (1), and Ben Holland from Nathan Brown. The Red & White left the Gators scoreless in the second quarter while putting up three of their own. Scoring for Wittenberg in the second were Noah Mackin assisted by Mitchell Steinker, Kody Gould from Ben Holland, and Ben Holland from Kody Gould. The Tigers went into the half with a 7-1 lead over the Gators and came back out with their biggest offensive period. Five goals were split between Kody Gould from Nathan Brown, Ben Holland off of Luke Stanfield on the face-off, Julio Novarini from Gould, Mitchell Steinker from Noah Mackin, and one last goal from Holland. Novarini put up Wittenberg's last goal in the final quarter to give him a hat trick and a final score of 13-6.

The Tigers currently sit at number seven in the NCAC with a conference record of 2-3.

Wittenberg Leaders- The Tigers were led by Ben Holland on offense with four goals followed by Julio Novarini with three. Kody Gould led in ground balls picking up six on the day. At the face-off was Luke Stanfield going 11-21. In goal for the Tigers was Ben Shevins who faced 13 shots with seven saves on the day.

NCAC Leaders- Wittenberg has three guys in the top ten for statistics in the NCAC. Ben Holland is at number three in the conference for goals with 27. Holland continues to lead the NCAC in points at number five with 40 points. In face-off success, Luke Stanfield lands at number eight going 80-152. On the defensive end, Mario Lorelli is tied at number seven in the NCAC for caused turnovers with 21 on the season.
