Wittenberg Drops Non-Conference Match-Up Against Capital

Bexley, OH- Wittenberg returned to action back in Ohio after playing in the sunshine state. The Tigers headed to Bexley, OH to take on the Comets of Capital University in a non-conference match-up.

Wittenberg put three on the board in the first quarter with goals from Connor Matthews, Holton Boehmer assisted by Max Schillig, and Kody Gould assisted by Zach Busby. The Tigers trailed by two heading into the second quarter where they had a lone goal from Gould to mark his second of the game. Wittenberg headed into the half down 7-4. In the third quarter the Red & White were able to outscore the Comets with two goals from Julio Novarini. Novarini's efforts put the Tigers within two heading into the final quarter of play. Capital was able to take their largest lead of the game in the fourth quarter with a final score of 15-9. Fourth quarter goals came from Matthews with his second of the day, Ben Holland with his first, and Noah Mackin assisted by Zach Busby.

Wittenberg Leaders- The Tigers had six different individuals score, being led by Julio Novarini, Kody Gould, and Connor Matthews with two goals each. Max Benincasa led in caused turnovers with three. Benincasa also led in ground balls picking up four on the day alongside Luke Stanfield with four. Leading in goal for Wittenberg was Brandon Shevins with five saves after facing 15 shots on goal.

NCAC Leaders- Wittenberg has six guys in the top ten for statistics in the NCAC. Ben Holland is tied at number two in the conference for goals with 14 followed by Noah Mackin at number five with 11. Landing the final spot at number ten for goal is Kody Gould with nine. The trio also land in the top ten for assists along with Nicholas Langenderfer. Holland leads the way at number three, Mackin sits at number six and Gould is tied with Langenderfer at nine. The offensive trio continues to lead the NCAC in points with Holland at number two, Mackin at number five and Gould at number nine. In face-off success, Luke Stanfield lands at number five going 43-88. On the defensive end, Mario Lorelli lands at number three in the NCAC for caused turnovers with 14 on the season while Max Benincasa is at number eight with six.
