Wooster, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's lacrosse team closed out the 2019 season on the road, going down in a hard-fought battle to NCAC rival Wooster, 8-7. The Tigers took the game down to the final quarter, coming back from a 5-2 deficit after the break. Wittenberg went into the fourth quarter trailing still 7-4, outscoring Wooster 3-1 over the final 15 minutes of action, but ultimately unable to overtake the Scots. Wittenberg closes out the season with an overall record of 4-11 and 3-5 in NCAC action.

Game Breakdown

Lucas Clever put the Tigers on the board with an unassisted goal late in the first quarter, cutting into the early Wooster lead to make it a 3-1 game. Noah Moderwell took advantage of the Wooster penalty and capitalized off of the Andrew Ellis assist to score the second Tiger goal of the game midway through the second quarter. After two Wooster goals early in the third quarter, Klever found Connor Rice with just over five minutes to go in the third. With just under a minute left in the third quarter, Moderwell scored an unassisted goal to make it a 7-4 game. Wittenberg scored three unanswered goals to open the fourth quarter of action, starting with a Rice goal assisted by Ellis. Wittenberg continued to cut into the Wooster lead, as Ellis capitalized of Klever's second assist of the game to find the back of the Wooster net. Michael Carluccio brought the game back to even with just under 10 minutes remaining by scoring an unassisted goal. Wooster took the win in the final seconds of action, scoring the game winner to take the 8-7 final.
