Birkholz & Tiger Team Take Top Spot At Denison Ted Barclay Invitational

Granville, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Golf team captured their first win of the 2022-23 season and their first win under new head coach David Wetterich. Senior Will Birkholz paced the field with a round-one 69. Round two of the Ted Barclay Invitational was cut down to just nine-holes on day two due to weather. Birkholz continued to hold strong posting a 34 through nine, finishing three-under par for a 103 through 27 holes. Wittenberg would have three golfers finish in the top 10, including Birkholz as the individual medalist, along with Nickolas Pidgeon finishing T2. Josh Wright earned a T12 finish as an individual with rounds of 70-35 for a 105 .

  • Pidgeon put together a 27-hole score of 105, carding rounds of 71 and 34.
  • Matthew Mattioli and Evan DiSanto came in at T21, both carding scores of 111. Mattioli posted rounds of 73-38, while DiSanto closed out the rounds with scores of 74-37.
  • Ryan Miller helped push the top of the field with a T15 finish as an individual, finishing with a 110, posting rounds of 73-37.

Wittenberg will take the month of September to gear up for the NCAA DIII Fall Preview on October 2-3 from Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, KY.
