Tigers Spark Comeback Win Against Alma

Springfield, OH – Trailing by eight with under three-minutes in regulation, the Wittenberg Tiger Men's Basketball team stormed back in the opening game of the 2022 Wittenberg Holiday, taking down the Scots from Alma College, 93-90.

Cameron Harrison ignited the Wittenberg comeback with his second made three-pointer of the night, with under a 90-seconds left in regulation, cutting the Alma advantage down to 88-87. Fifth-year senior, Levi Boettcher stood tall under pressure, knocking down the corner three, after a pair of missed Alma free-throws, putting Wittenberg ahead, 90-88. Boettcher found himself in the hot corner with just a few ticks left on the clock, drawing three foul-shots and converting on all-three, giving the Tigers the 93-90 advantage with .7 left for one final Scots heave at the buzzer.

Boettcher finished with a team-high 19-points, converting on 6 of 7 from the floor, knocking down both attempts from beyond the arc and going 5 of 6 from the charity stripe. Wittenberg had six players find double figures on the night. Jerry Saunders Jr. posted 15 points, finishing in double-figures for the seventh time in nine games. Saunders Jr. added a team-high eight rebounds, dishing out three assists. Trey KIllens added 13 points, with Daniel Asher posting 12 and Josh Tolliver finishing with 11. Harrison was the final Tiger scorer in double-figures, posting 10 points on the night.

The Tigers will return to action on for the final day of the Wittenberg Holiday Classic, taking on the Bulldogs from Adrian College. Tipoff is set for 7:00 pm.
