Tigers Take Down Buffalo State On Day Two of John Carroll Classic

University Heights, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Basketball team bounced back with a 75-68 win over the Buffalo State Bengals, on day two of the John Carroll Tip-Off Classic. Jerry Saunders Jr. led the scoring effort for the second day in a row, earning All-Tournament honors. Saunders Jr. tallied a team-high 25 points, pulling down three rebounds and blocking two shots with one assist on the day. The Tiger newcomer begins his Wittenberg career with 51 points through two games, shooting better than 60 percent from the field.

The Tigers knocked down 28 of 61 shots from the field on the day, including 5 of 20 from beyond the arc. Trey Killens tallied 14 points, pulling down five rebounds and coming up with two steals. Josh Tolliver added 10 points with two rebounds and a steal, converting on 4 of 9 from the floor.

Wittenberg held a 30-26 lead at the break. The Tigers shot better than 35 percent from the field through the first 20 minutes of action, putting together a six-point run at the 13:30 mark. Leading throughout the duration, Wittenberg held their largest advantage in the second half, extending the margin to 14 points.

Levi Boettcher tallied a team-high 16 rebounds, five on the offensive end. Boettcher would also dish out a team-high six assists, finishing five points and four blocked shots.

Wittenberg will return to action on Tuesday, November 22, making their home debut hosting Mount St. Joseph University. Tipoff from Pam Evans Smith Arena is set for 7:30 pm.
