Men's Basketball Falls In Road Opener At John Carroll

University Heights, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Basketball team traveled to John Carroll University to begin their 2022-23 campaign from the John Carroll Tip-Off Classic. The Tigers fell in their first of two games on the weekend, 94-72, to the host Blue Streaks of John Carroll. Trailing 43-34 at the half, Wittenberg was unable to find the friendly roll on the road as the Blue Streaks would go on to outscore the Tigers 51-38 in over the final 20 minutes. Tiger newcomer Jerry Saunders Jr. tallied a team-high 26 points in his collegiate debut, adding two steals to his credit.

Trey Killens posted 12 points, knocking down 4 of 5 from the floor, tracking down four rebounds and dishing out two assists. As a team, Wittenberg knocked down 25 of 56 shots from the floor, converting on just 19 percent from beyond the arc.  The Tigers saw great support from their reserves in the opener, with 58 of the 72 total points coming off the bench.

Wittenberg will return to action on Sunday, November 13 for day two of the John Carroll Tip-Off, facing Buffalo State University.
