Tiger Men's Basketball Celebrates 2022 Senior Class

Springfield, OH - The Wittenberg Tiger men's basketball team welcomed back the return of eight championship teams to Pam Evans Smith Arena ahead of their annual rivalry game with the College of Wooster. Wittenberg honored OAC, NCAC and National Championship teams from 1966-67, 1971-72, 1976-77, 1986-87, 1991-92, 1996-97, 2001-02, and 2011-12. Ahead of the contest, the Tiger program would celebrate the careers of their six senior's: Landon Martin, Rashaad Ali-Shakir, Ridge Young, James Johnson, Harrison Gough and Levi Boettcher. Through forty-minutes of action, the Tigers would fall to the Fighting Scots, 77-57.

Wittenberg was led by Young with 14 points, knocking down 4 of 6 from the floor including 2 of 2 from beyond the arc. Josh Tolliver felt the home side love on the home side of the Witt/Woo rivalry as a Springfield native, adding 13 points. Tolliver knocked down 5 of 8 from the floor and 3 of 4 from deep range, grabbing three rebounds.

Wittenberg closes out the regular season with a 13-11 overall record and 11-6 in NCAC play.

UP NEXT

Wittenberg will now be making their 31st NCAC Tournament appearance, heading into postseason action as the No. 4 seed. The Tigers will host No. 5 Denison on Tuesday, February 22 at 5:30 PM at Pam Evans Smith Arena. The Tigers have a 49-22 all-time record in NCAC postseason play and are 26-4 in quarterfinal games. This will be the eighth time the Tigers and Big Red have clashed in NCAC postseason play, all games being played at The Pam.
