No. 5 Tigers Dominate Denison

Springfield, OH - The No. 5 Wittenberg Tigers returned to Pam Evans Smith Arena on Wednesday evening to host the Denison University Big Red, earning a 100-59 win on the night over their NCAC foe from Granville. The Tigers let it fly from deep knocking down 60 percent from beyond the arc on the night. Brice Hill had a career-night, knocking down 5 of 6 from the floor, all from deep-range for 15 points on the night for the Tigers. Wittenberg finished with five players tallying double-figures on the night. Connor Seipel converted on 6 of 8 from the floor, posting 14 points, pulling down six rebounds adding a steal and an assist to his total. Wittenberg improves to 19-1 on the season and 12-1 in NCAC action. 

Game Breakdown

The Tigers took the opening tip, knocking down a triple to open the scoring from Jordan Pumroy, coming off the assist from Landon Martin. After a Wittenberg timeout, the Tigers come out of the break and hit another triple, this time coming from Martin off the Pumroy assist, giving Wittenberg a 13-9 advantage. The two sides would battle back and forth, as the Tigers took an 18-11 lead with just under 14 minutes in the first half. Wittenberg would continue their scoring onslaught going on an 11-2 run over the next three and a half minutes forcing a Big Red timeout. A pair of made free throws by Harrison Gough would help ext the Tiger advantage out to 23-13 with 11:30 remaining in the half. The Tigers kept the pressure on the Big Red, knocking down five three's to end the half, including a buzzer-beater from Levi Boettcher, giving Wittenberg the 45-22 lead at the break. Wittenberg didn't miss a beat in the second half, knocking down 20 of 32 shots from the floor, including 8 of 13 from beyond the arc. Hill rattled home three triples in the second half, tallying 9 of his 15 total points. James Johnson posted all seven of his points in the second half, converting on 2 of 3 from beyond the arc. 13 different Tigers made it into the scoring column on the evening, as Rashaad Ali-Shakir provided 11 points off the bench for the Red and Whtie, providing two assists and a rebound.
