No. 6 Tigers Overpower DePauw

Springfield, OH- The No. 6 Wittenberg men's basketball team took down the Tigers from DePauw, 90-59, unleashing an offensive attack yet to be seen this season. Wittenberg finished with four players posting double figures on the night, as the team posted season-highs in field goals (58.6) and three-point shooting (57.7). Connor Seipel led the offensive effort for the Red and White, recording 15 points, adding four rebounds with two assists and a steal.  Jake Bertemes and James Johnson added 14 points apiece for the Wittenberg offense. Bertemes tallied a team-high four assists, going along with his three rebounds. Johnson lit it up from beyond the arc, knocking down 4 of 6 from deep range while pulling down five rebounds. Wittenberg continued to play generous basketball, tallying 19 assists on 34 made baskets on the night. This marks the 13th game this season where the Tigers have tallied double-digit assists. 

Game Breakdown

The Red and White started the game off with a layup from Seipel just 20 seconds into the action. Starting with an eight-point run, Wittenberg dropped back-to-back three-pointers from Bertemes and Jordan Pumroy. Landon Martin added to the three-point flurry to kick-off the Tiger scoring effort through the early going, coming off the assist from Bertemes. Wittenberg put their foot down, taking a 51-29 lead into the break, shooting 63 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes of action. In the second half, the Red and White started off with another three-pointer, coming from Johnson to maintain their lead. Jumping out with a 30-point lead the Red and White didn't look back as 12 different Wittenberg Tigers made their way into the scoring column. Ridge Young posted 7 points in the second half, coming off the bench for the Red and White, helping add to the Wittenberg advantage.
