Four Tigers Tally Double Figures In Win At DePauw

Greencastle, IN – The No. 3 Wittenberg University men's basketball team traveled to DePauw University, taking down the Tigers from Indiana 88-63. Wittenberg finished with four players scoring double figures on the night, as the Red and White were led by Landon Martin with 18 points. Martin added six rebounds, two assists and a steal to his total. Wittenberg knocked down 64 percent of their shots from the floor while dropping 9 of 16 from beyond the arc. The Red and White would also convert on 11 of 13 trips to the free-throw line. The Wittenberg defense put up a strong front for 40 minutes, holding DePauw to just 26 of 60 from the floor and allowing just 25 percent from deep to fall in.

Game Breakdown

Wittenberg knocked down 17 of 28 shots from the floor in the first half, including 5 of 9 from deep range. Connor Seipel tallied eight of his 11 points in the first half, pulling down two boards for Wittenberg. James Johnson heated up early, knocking down all three of his shots from the floor for seven first-half points, adding two rebounds to his count. Jordan Pumroy helped facilitate the Wittenberg offense, dishing out five assists while tracking down four rebounds. Wittenberg maintained a 41-36 lead at the half, allowing DePauw to shoot 50 percent from the floor and just 25 percent from beyond the arc. Martin would come alive in the second half, recording 14 of his 18 points. Johnson continued to add to his total, knocking down three more shots, taking his total up to 16 on the night. Jake Bertemes put together a balanced attack of six first-half points and eight second-half points, taking his total to 14 on the night. Bertemes would add three assists, two steals, along with a blocked shot and a rebound to his total.

"I thought we got into a rhythm in the second half and defended much better. That's a good road win for us," said Head Coach Matt Croci.
