Four Tigers Tally Double Digits Pushing Witt Past OWU

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg University men's basketball team cruised to a 91-58 victory over the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday night from Pam Evans Smith Arena. A quartet of Tigers tallied double figures on the night, as Jordan Pumroy and Connor Seipel each finished with 16 points. Recording his 12th double-double of the season, Seipel finished 8 of 10 from the floor with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Tigers have now won four straight, moving to 17-5 on the season and 11-4 in NCAC action.

Game Breakdown

The Tigers jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead to start the game, causing an Ohio Wesleyan timeout within the first two minutes of action. Wittenberg extended their lead in the first half out to as many as 10 before the break, taking a 49-39 lead into the half, shooting 48 percent from the field and 46 percent from beyond the arc. Pumroy tallied 10 of his 16 in the first half, knocking down 4 of 9 from the floor, including 2 of 5 from deep range with two rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Jacob Bertemes added 10 points in the first with, converting on 5 of 8 from the field. Wittenberg held onto their lead throughout the second half, extending the advantage to as many as 28 points. As 12 different Tigers found their way into the scoring column on the night.

Who Stood Out

Bertemes tallied 14 points on 7 or 12 from the field, with 2 rebounds and three assists on the night. James Johnson was the fourth Tiger in double figures with 11 points on 3 of 7 from the floor and 3 of 3 from the charity stripe, including seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Landon Martin would also provide eight points off the bench for the Tigers.
