Rocky Zingale

Rocky Zingale joined the Wittenberg football coaching staff in July 2022 as a wide receivers coach, recruiting coordinator and junior varsity offensive coordinator.

In 2023, Zingale coached a pair of All-North Coast Athletic Conference Third Team selections in Dean Tate and Tyler May.

Tate recorded the first 13-reception game at Wittenberg since 2014 in a win over Dubuque on 9-2-23, which tied for fourth in program history for receptions in a game. That also made him one of 11 Tigers all-time to record 12-plus receptions in a game. He tied for fourth in program history for receptions in a season (63) and ranked third in receptions per game in a season (7). He recorded 186 receiving yards against Dubuque and 193 yards against Denison, and is one of 20 Tigers to record 175-plus receiving yards in a game.

May recorded 229 receiving yards against DePauw on 10-21-23, which ranks third all-time at Wittenberg for single-game receiving yards. In doing so, he became the first Tiger to record 200-plus receiving yards in a game since 2015. He joined Tate as one of 20 Tiger receivers to post 175-plus receiving yards in a game. Also in 2023, he recorded an 85-yard punt return, which was the team's first 80-plus-yard punt return since 2013 and tied for fifth in program history in longest punt return. He 93 total punt return yards against Dubuque on 9-2-23 ranks 10th all-time for single-game punt return yards.

Prior to coming to Wittenberg, Zingale served as the assistant director of recruiting at the Naval Academy Athletic Association in Annapolis, Md., from February 2022 through June 2022 and was an offensive line quality control coach at Eastern Illinois University from July 2021 through January 2022. He has also served as an assistant coach at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, where he coached the freshmen wide receivers.

Zingale graduated from the Ohio University College of Business in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in sport sciences while majoring in sport management and minoring in business administration. A native of Cleveland, Zingale graduated from Saint Ignatius High School, where he played football and was a member of the 2011 state championship team and was a 2012 All-District Team selection. Zingale currently lives in Springfield.
