Crawfordsville, IN – The Wittenberg University football team traveled to Wabash College on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Little Giants 31-13 in the NCAC showdown. After a scoreless first quarter, Wabash jumped out to a quick 17-0 lead heading into the half. The Wittenberg offense tallied 19 first downs on the day, racking up 384 total yards. Jaheem Washington was the top target for the Tiger offense on the day, racking up 163 yards on the ground on 26 carries while adding a team-high five receptions out of the backfield for 36 yards. Troy Jones and Nasir Carter led the Wittenberg defense, with Jones tallying 10 tackles (six solo) and Carter adding eight (five solo). Carter tacked on three tackles for loss with two quarterback sacks, while Jones forced a fumble.

Game Breakdown

DeShawn Sarley put the first Wittenberg points on the board with just over 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter. Sarley capped off a four-play 56-yard Wittenberg series with a 14-yard touchdown run into the Wabash endzone. Wittenberg continued the hunt into the fourth quarter, with Bobby Froehlich and Thad Snodgrass completing the 14 play 82-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown pitch and catch into the Wabash endzone, bringing the score to 17-13. Wabash would find the Wittenberg twice more in the fourth quarter, extending their advantage out to 31-13.
