Cross Country/ Track & Field Welcomes Chris Marco

The Wittenberg Cross Country/ Track & Field program welcomes Chris Marco to the coaching staff. Coach Marco will be taking over as the Associate Head Cross Country and Assistant Track & Field Coach for the Tigers. Marco previously served as the Emory University Assistant coach for mid-distance and distance program.

Before Emory, Marco was a volunteer assistant at Monmouth University, after completing his eligibility with them and pursuing his MBA. There he was able to mentor multiple athletes to regionals and guided one athlete to All-American status for the 800-meter run.

As an athlete Marco was a member of the University of Notre Dame distance program. He earned second team All-Atlantic Coast Conference for the Distance Medley, ran a personal-best time of 3:43 in the 1500, and earned ACC Academic Honor Roll multiple times. At Monmouth, Marco earned All-East Outdoor in the 1500 and 4x800 meter relay with indoor recognition for the mile and 4x800 relay as well.

Coach Marco says "I'm incredibly grateful for the last four years I've spent at Emory University. My time with the program, staff, and student athletes has allowed me a multitude of experiences that have prepared me to take the next step in leadership and responsibility. I'm beyond excited to begin my new role of Associate Head Coach of Cross Country and Assistant Track and Field at Wittenberg University. I want to thank Coach Hilliard for entrusting me with the success and future of the program and I'm looking forward to elevating the Tigers to new heights."

Coach Hilliard is "extremely excited to welcome Coach Marco to our staff. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our program. I am confident Coach Marco will continue to elevate our distance program to new heights."

The program is looking ahead as cross country begins post-season competition and track & field is beginning a new year.
