Tigers Finish 13th at Greater Louisville Classic

Louisville, Kentucky—The Wittenberg Tigers Cross Country team headed south for the Greater Louisville Classic hosted at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park on Saturday. The meet was another opportunity for the program to compete against multiple Division I, II, and some of the top ranked regional and national D III teams. Each race had over 40 teams and over 400 runners.

The men's team competed first finishing in the middle of the packed in team competition. Junior, Conor Kolka finished 51st in a time of 25:36.9 for 8k. Sophomore Lucas Eisele finished second for the team in 26:09.5. Next was sophomore Evan Haemmerle and freshmen Lukas Rieben came in 6 seconds apart at 26:19.9 and 27:25.4 for Rieben. Rounding out the scoring five was senior Peter Caine in a time of 27:49.5. 

The women competed next in the blue race where the team finished 13th overall and was the 2nd DIII team to finish. Sophomore Ella Webster and senior Sydney Khosla continue to lead the Tigers. Webster finished 11th overall in a time of 18:21.4 and Khosla was 19th overall in 18:26.6. Third for the Tigers was sophomore Emma Hawk with a time of 19:26.8. Junior, Megan Keys would finish fourth for the team in 19:35.3. And finishing out the top five was junior, Kiki Krohmer in 20:01.5

The team will now focus on competing at their next meet in two weeks at SUNY Geneseo on Saturday October 14th.
