Freshmen Lead Tigers To Top Five Performances

The Wittenberg Tigers continue to dominate on the course. On Friday, October 15th, the Tiger Men and Women traveled to Wilmington College for the Jenna Strong Cross Country Fall Classic.

The Women placed 5th out of 24 teams. Freshmen Megan Keys placed 20th out of 258 runners with a 5k time of 19:51.1. Keys continues to excel on the course as she lead the Women. Close behind Keys, Sydney Khosla placed 22nd with a 5k time of 19:53.5. Khosla not only runs for the Tigers, but she plays on our Wittenberg Tigers Tennis team and she shins on both the court and the course. Khosla continues to be a key contributor for the Tigers. Placing third for the team we have sophomore Corin Turkovich. Turkovich ran a time of 20:14.7 with an overall place of 28th. Corin hopes for "high achievements and successes not only on a personal level, but on a team level". Turkovich shares that she hopes the Women's team can place in the Top 4 at the NCAC conference meet.

For the Tiger Men, they were able to walk away with a Top 3 placement. The men place third out of 33 teams; beating key conference teams. Conor Kolka continues to lead the men on the course, excelling each meet. Kolka was able to run a 8k time of 26:16.9 placing 9th overall out of 329 runners. For conference, Kolka hopes to break 26:00.0 minutes in the 8k. Coming in second for the team we have Senior Cullen Sainey running a time of 26:34.9 placing 17th. Sainey has been a consistent key runner for the Tigers and will be able to bring that consistency to the NCAC conference meet. Coming in third for the Tiger Men we have Ryan Zimmerman. Zimmerman was able to run a time of 26:54.3; placing 30th. Going into the conference meet Zimmerman says, "I think we are looking strong. This is the best team I've ever seen for us in my 4 years here. We have the potential to be top 3 this year and that hasn't happened in quite awhile. As long as we show up convicted, there's nothing we can't accomplish".

Both Wittenberg teams hope to bring the high and competitive energy to the NCAC conference meet on October 30th, 2021; Lighting the Candle in the process.
