Tigers Open Season at Wooster Invitational

Wooster, OH- Wittenberg travelled to Wooster for their annual Wooster Invitational which was a non-scoring race against Wooster, Baldwin Wallace, Bryant & Stratton (Wis.), Cleveland State, Lorain Community, Oberlin, and Otterbein.

The Tigers were eager to get back after it after a non-competing Fall season in 2020. Wittenberg was led by Ryan Zimmerman at 22:11.6 on the men's side for an eight-place finish in the men's 4-mile race. Following behind him was freshman Conor Kolka at 22:12.7 and junior, Cullen Sainey at 22:13.2.  On the women's side Lauren Welker led the pack with a third-place finish and time of 15:25.9 in the 4K. Following right behind was freshman, Corin Turkovich at 15:41.4 and Sydney Khosla at 15:48.4.

Head coach, Paris HIlliard, says "the women's and men's performance tonight was fantastic. For our women to come away with a win and the men to finish 2nd in an unscored meet was a great way to open up the season. I am looking forward to next weeks home meet. Our team is fully focused taking it one step at a time and embracing the moment."

The Tigers will look forward to hosting two home meets this year for the NCAC Preview and NCAC Championships. Wittenberg will be back in action on September 11th at the Clark County Fairgrounds for the NCAC Preview.
