Tigers Run Well At All-Ohio Championships

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Wittenberg cross country teams reached the midway point of the 2014 season with a pair of fine finishes at the All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Cedarville University.

The Tiger men placed 27th out of 43 teams clustered into one race as event organizers scrambled to get the meet completed before the rains came. The Tiger women placed 34th out of 42 teams. Both races included teams from throughout the state, representing all three NCAA divisions and NAIA scholarship programs.

Individually, Wittenberg's women were paced by sophomore Erin Hord (Madison, Ohio/Madison), who covered the 6K course in a time of 24:53 to finish 185th overall. Sophomore Hannah Meier (North Muskegon, Mich./North Muskegon) was next in 283rd place in a time of 25:57.

Freshman Stephanie Atkinson (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) finished in 26:05, junior Megan Heitkemper (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) crossed the line in 26:44, and sophomore Kalie McDorman (Springfield, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) rounded out the Tiger point-scorers in a time of 26:57. A total of 503 runners were entered in the race.

On the men's side, sophomore Jon Osman (Troy, Ohio/Troy) led the way in 119th place with a time of 26:41 on the 8K course. Senior Adam Kapuscinski (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) was next in 253rd place in a time of 28:03, followed closely by senior Andrew Ziminski (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) in 273rd in a time of 28:12.

Rounding out the scorers for Wittenberg were sophomore Ethan Raines (Maineville, Ohio/Little Miami) in a time of 28:23 and sophomore Chase Gage (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview) in a time of 28:30.
