Tiger Teams Slog To Solid Finish At Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Tigers aren't known as mudders in the wild. On the cross country at Otterbein, however, the Wittenberg Tigers covered the soggy turf quite well.

The Tiger men finished 16th in the Otterbein Invitational, while the Tiger women placed 12th.

On the women's side, the leading finisher was freshman Erin Hord (Madison, Ohio/Madison), who placed 53rd in a time of 26:03 on the 6K course. She was followed by senior Maggie McIlvain (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) in 72nd in a time of 26:57.

Rounding out the Wittenberg scorers were freshman Megan Heitkemper (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) in 75th in 27:05, sophomore Sarah Ellis (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) in 81st in 27:10, and junior Deanna Iwanyckyj (Water Mill, N.Y./Southampton) in 92nd in 27:23.

The Tiger were paced by freshman Michael Dureska (Quincy, Ill./Quincy) in 93rd place with a time of 29:30 on the 8K course. Next up for Wittenberg was senior Sean Redfield (Fredonia, NY/St. Francis) in 156th in 30:16.

Also scoring for Wittenberg were freshman Blake Nelson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) in 160th in 30:19, senior Chris Navarre (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) in 161st in 30:20 and sophomore Courtland Johnson (Versailles, Ky./Woodford County) in 168th in 30:36.
