Tigers Make Noise At Inter-Regional Rumble

OBERLIN, Ohio — The Wittenberg cross country teams finished up a two-meet weekend by making some noise at the Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin College. The men turned in a 17th-place finish among 34 programs while the women finished 14th among 33.

Senior Mary Pfeifer (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) led the women with a time of 22:56.3 on the 6K course, finishing an impressive 13th among more than 280 competitors.

Senior Anna Henry (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) followed up with a finish of 60th on a time of 24:01.2, and sophomore Shannon Kelleher (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) rounded out the Tigers' top three in 94th-place on a time of 24:37.7.

On the men's side, the Tiger twins led the way with senior Jarrett Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) in 61st on an 8K time of 27:00.1, followed by senior Kyler Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) in 102nd on a time of 27:35.3. Sophomore Jacob Kuntz (Versailles, Ky./Woodford) was not far behind in 108th, crossing in 27:37.7.

The Rumble concludes the regular season for the cross country teams, with the North Coast Athletic Conference championships up next. Wittenberg is hosting the 2011 edition of the championship meet at John Bryan State Park in Yellow Springs, Ohio, on Saturday, Oct. 29.
