WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Wittenberg cross country teams started a two-meet weekend with a trip to Wilmington, and the women came home with a 15th-place finish among 26 teams in the loaded Wilmington Invitational, while the men finished 23rd of 26.

The women turned in a sterling finish among some of the best teams in the region and scholarship programs including Ohio State, Findlay, Wright State, Berea, Cumberlands and Northern Kentucky.

The effort was spearheaded by the strongest finish of sophomore Molly King's (Springfield, Ohio/Northeastern) collegiate career, a 12th-place performance on a time of 19:13.66 on the 5K course.

Senior Lindley Bell (Pittsfield, Mass./Mount Greylock) followed up in 57th on a time of 20:22.97.

On the men's side, Wittenberg was paced on the 8K course by junior Adam Markins (Chillicothe, Ohio/Union Scioto) on a time of 27:34.88 for 96th place.

The Tigers continue tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Inter-Regional Rumble at Oberlin College.
