Tigers Run Well Against Strong Field At Calvin Invitational

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Wittenberg men's and women's cross country teams posted strong finishes both individually and down the roster at the Calvin Invitational on Saturday. The men finished seventh among 15 and the women posted a fifth place finish among 14.

The field included host Calvin, Aquinas, Baldwin-Wallace, Ohio Wesleyan, Ohio Northern, Kenyon, Cornerstone, Spring Arbor, Alma, Adrian, Lake Superior State, Bethel (Ind.), Concordia (Mich.) and Grace Bible.

Junior Jarrett Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) led the men with a 35th-place finish behind a time of 26:54.7, while junior Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) paced the women in 21st at 19:23.

Freshman Shannon Kelleher (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) finished one second behind Dubuc in 22nd place, followed by sophomore Amy Stamon (Louisville, Ky./Assumption), who crossed in 34th place on a time of 19:54 on the 5k women's course.

Senior Kevin Frick (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview) pulled in second for the men just two spots behind Cowgill with a time of 26:56.3. Freshman Jacob Kuntz (Versailles, Ky./Woodford) finished another two spots back in 39th with a final time of 27:04.8 to round out the top finishers for the Tigers on the 8k men's course.

Both the men and the women head back to the course on Saturday, Sept. 25, in the Otterbein Invitational in Westerville, Ohio.
