Cross Country Teams Compete At Otterbein Invitational

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The Wittenberg cross country teams ran this weekend at the packed Otterbein Invitational, hosted on the campus of Otterbein University. The men finished 15th of 18, while the women came in 16th of 19.

The men's team was paced by sophomore Stephen Klingner (Silver Springs, Md./James Hubert Blake) who placed 73rd overall with a time of 29:05.6 on the eight kilometer course. He was followed by sophomore Aaron Long (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) in 86th place with a time of 29:45.7. The Tigers' third runner to cross was senior Colin Tower (Novelty, Ohio/University School) with a time of 30:15.9, good for 91st.

On the women's five kilometer course, Wittenberg placed sophomore Mary Swoyer (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) in 63rd to pace the team with a time of 20:45.6. Following Swoyer was junior Lindley Bell (Pittsfield, Mass./Mount Greylock) in 75th with a time of 21:01.7, and sophomore Breanne Ziegler (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) finished 86th with a time of 21:30.1.

The Tigers look next to the All-Ohio Championships, held this year at nearby Cedarville University on Saturday, Oct. 2.
