Tigers Finish In The Middle Of All-Ohio Invitational Pack

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers hit the home stretch of the 2010 season with a solid performance at the All-Ohio Championships, hosted for the first time at Cedarville University. The Tiger men placed ninth of the 20 NCAA Division III teams in the competition, finishing just one point behind Baldwin-Wallace for eighth place, while the Tiger women placed 10th of 19 NCAA Division III teams.

The men were paced by senior Kevin Frick (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview), who placed 27th in a time of 26:33. Not far behind was freshman Wade Westbrook (Columbus, Ohio/Whetstone) in 38th place in 26:50.

The other point-scorers were junior Jarrett Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington), who covered the 8K Elvin R. King Cross Country course in 26:56, good for 43rd place. Sophomore Trevor Grandy () placed 44th, just two-tenths of a second behind Cowgill. Finally, sophomore Adam Markins (Chillicothe, Ohio/Union Scioto) placed 59th in 27:13.

The women were led by freshman Shannon Kelleher (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby), who covered the 5K course in 19:32 to finish 39th. Right behind her were freshman Maggie McIlvain (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) in 42nd place in 19:39 and sophomore Amy Stamon (Louisville, Ky./Assumption) in 47th place in 19:46.

Rounding out the point scorers were juniors Anna Henry (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) and Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) in 56th and 64th places, respectively. Their times were 19:54 and 20:02, respectively.

The Tigers have two weeks to prepare for their next race at Wilmington on Oct. 15. That will be the final tune-up for the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet at Wabash on Oct. 30.
