DELAWARE, Ohio - In one of their strongest showings of 2008, the Wittenberg men's and women's cross country teams took high places amongst the Division III competition, as well as the rest of the collegiate cross country student-athletes from across the state of Ohio.

Highlighting a bright day for the Tigers, senior Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County North) took home a 16th-place finish in the Division III field, only requiring 27:01 to traverse the 8,000 meter course. Constantly referred to as one of the most difficult cross country tests in the country, All-Ohio proved to also be a good day for sophomore Andrew Carter (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) and sophomore Matt Overturf (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Benjamin Logan), who finished in 29:00 and 29:09, respectively.

On the women's side, freshman Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven)continued to impress, this time against the best competition in the state. She took on the 5,000 meter course with a 6th place finish amongst Division III runners, in a time of 19:33. Also with strong days on the course were fellow freshmen Anna Henry (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) and freshman Mary Pfeifer (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman). Henry and Pfeifer took 13th and 19th in the field in 19:48 and 20:03.

Riding off of their success, the Tigers move onto their final tune-up before the conference meet when they travel to Wilmington on Friday, Oct. 17.
