Wittenberg Tunes Up For Conference Meet At Wilmington Invitational

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The men's cross country team turned in their most solid finish of the the 2007 season at Wilmington on Saturday, and the Tiger women finished strong as well. Two runners in the top 30 highlighted the men's performances on their way to eighth overall in a competitive 22-team field, while the women posted two top-50 finishes to secure 14th place.

 

Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County North) was the first Tiger to carry Red & White across the finish line, taking 26th place of 215 runners, followed by Andrew Carter (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) in 30th. Mike Echols (Springfield, Ohio/North)rounded up the top men's finishers, coming in at 34th in one of his best runs of the year.

The women were represented up front by Megan Poling (Medina, Ohio/Highland), who earned an impressive 36th spot, and Alissa Goble (Sunfield, Mich./Lakewood) came in 10 behind at 46th. Junior Erin Hedrick (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) also ran well with a 51st-place finish.

The Wilmington race closes the regular portion of the schedule. Next, the teams will travel to Kenyon to take part in the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, October 27.
