Tiger Men Finish 27th, Women 26th In Great Lakes Regional

HANOVER, Ind. - The Wittenberg men's and women's cross country teams finished their season at the Great Lakes Regional Meet held at Hanover College. The Tigers, coming off the NCAC meet two weeks ago at Earlham College, ran well in the season finale, finishing 26th in the women's competition and 27th in the men's competition.

For the men, the top finisher was sophomore Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County North), who finished 130th in a time of 28:31.2. Savage was followed closely by junior Mike Wismer (Avon, Ohio/Avon), who finished in 28:39.4, good for 141st. Rounding things out, sophomore Ben McCombs (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) finished 154th in a time of 28:57.0, sophomore Kraig Reiber (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) crossed the line in 28:59.6, good for 157th, sophomore Shawn Hils (Hiram, Ohio/Crestwood)  finished in 29:53.9, good for 187th, and James Lewis (Solon, Ohio/Solon) finished 209th in a time of 31:03.7.

The Tiger women were paced by senior Christine Maddox (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg), who finished 71st in a time of 24:44.5, the best finish of the day for any Wittenberg runner. The next best finisher for the women was senior Sarah Yehle (West Lafayette, Ohio/West Lafayette), who had a time of 26:16.1 to place 148th. First year runner Megan Poling (Medina, Ohio/Highland), a junior, finished 173rd in a time of 27:26.3, followed by junior Rachel Suitor (Freeland, Mich./Freeland) and freshman Ali Brown (Chillicothe, Ohio/Zane Trace) who finished 180th and 184th respectively. Suitor finished in a time of 27.41.3 while Brown finished just behind her at 28:02.2. The women's side was rounded out by sophomore Kate McIlvain in a time of 28:38.1, and junior Alissa Goble (Sunfield, Mich./Lakewood), who finished in a time of 29:34.0.
