Tigers Run Strong at Wabash Hokum Karem

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Wittenberg Tigers ran well in their first meet under Head Coach Craig Penney, who took over the program less a month earlier, as the men took fifth place against an outstanding field in the Wabash Hokum-Karem. The Tiger women placed third in a similarly strong field.

The event features an unusual format with runners from each team paired up as relay partners. Juniors Mike Echols (Springfield, Ohio/North) and Mike Wismer (Avon, Ohio/Avon) were Wittenberg's next finisher in 20th place.

On the women's side, Wittenberg's top relay duo was formed by sophomore Katie McIlvain (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) and senior Christine Maddox (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg), who turned in a combined time in the 2x2 mile race of 25:11. Junior Megan Poling (Medina, Ohio/Highland) and sophomore Abby McCutcheon (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) placed 20th.
