Tiger Teams Run Well At Earlham Invitational

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Wittenberg Tigers turned in another round of solid performances at the 2006 Earlham Invitational. The Tiger men placed eighth in a tough 13-team field, while the women, led by 12th-place individual finisher Christine Maddox (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg), captured sixth place among 11 teams entered.

Maddox covered the 5-kilometer course in 20:44, just over one minute behind the event-winning time. Junior Alissa Goble (Sunfield, Mich./Lakewood), sophomore Abby McCutcheon (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster), senior Sarah Yehle (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) and junior Megan Poling (Medina, Ohio/Highland) formed a nice pack of runners in the middle of the field, all finishing between 37th and 42nd place to round out the Tigers' scoring.

On the men's side, the leaders were junior Mike Echols (Springfield, Ohio/North) and sophomore Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County North), who placed 22nd and 23rd respectively, covering the 8-kilometer course in 28:16 and 28:22. Sophomore Ben McCombs (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) added a 34th place finish to the Tigers' scoring effort.

The Tigers have a short week ahead. The next meet is the annual All-Ohio Invitational on Friday, Oct. 6 at Ohio Wesleyan.
