Tiger Teams Finish Ninth At Cedarville Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Running against a deep field filled with quality scholarship programs, the Wittenberg Tigers placed ninth in both the men's and women's events of the Cedarville Invitational.

The Tiger women were in a 15-team field, finishing 33 points behind eighth-place Wright State. Senior Christine Maddox (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) topped the squad with a 27th place finish as she covered the five-kilometer course in 20:38. Junior Megan Poling (Medina, Ohio/Highland) and senior Sarah Yehle (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) added top-50 finishes.

The Tiger men were in a 13-team field, 28 points behind the University of Charleston for eighth place. They were led by junior Mike Echols (Springfield, Ohio/North), who covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 28:25 to place 45th. Junior Mike Wismer (Avon, Ohio/Avon), sophomore Gabe Savage (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-County North) and sophomore Benjamin McCombs (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) also turned in top-50 finishes.

The Tigers are off for a week before travelling to Earlham on Sept. 30.
