Grove City, Pennsylvania – Junior Savanah Phillips netted a team-leading eight goals to lead the Wittenberg University Women's Water Polo team in an 11-8 win over Grove City in CWPA cross-divisional action on Saturday in northwest Pennsylvania. With the win, the Tigers conclude their inaugural regular season as a varsity program with an overall record 6-11. Wittenberg will now make the trip to New London, Connecticut, next weekend (April 12-14) for the CWPA Championships at Connecticut College.

Who Stood Out

While Phillips once again led the Wittenberg offensive unit with eight total goals, three additional Tiger freshman notched goals in the match, including Emma Menjivar, Calista Spring and Tatum Bruno. Bruno also dished out one assist in the match, while Phillips also shined defensively for the Tigers with four steals. In addition, freshman Abigail Dunasky registered two steals, while rookies Kiersten Heverly and Anya Bennett each finished the match with one steal a piece. Bennett was also a rock in the cage for the Tigers as she finished the match with 10 total saves.
