Sterett was a two-year letter winner at Wright State University in 2015 & 2016, as a six-rotation outside hitter, before transferring to Otterbein University in 2017, where she was a two-year letter winner for the Cardinals. At Otterbein, Sterett ranked in the top-15 nationally in kills per set during the 2018 season, and in the top-30 in 2017. Sterett earned Ohio Athletic Conference First Team honors in 2017 & 2018 and was a two-time All America award winner. In 2018, Sterett closed out her career at Otterbein earning OAC Player of the Year honors. Sterett played for former Tiger All-American, Monica Wright, as she played a key role in the Cardinals' 2017 & 2018 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament championships, along with advancing to the NCAA Regional Tournament her junior season.

Sterett's coaching experience includes coaching at summer collegiate camps across the state, and assisting with recruitment during her time at Otterbein.

Sterett earned her bachelor of arts in communications from Otterbein in 2018. Throughout her college career, she made an appearance on the Dean's List three times and earned the Wright State University Academic Achievement Award three times as well.
