Wittenberg Volleyball Splits Day Two of Fall Classic

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger volleyball team split the final day of their annual Fall Classic, falling to Carnegie Mellon in straight sets (25-19, 25-23, 27-25) to begin the day. Wittenberg bounced back in their final match of the afternoon, sweeping Marietta College in straight sets (25-13, 25-20, 29-27).

Wittenberg spread the attack in the victory over the Pioneers, with three different Tigers recording eight kills. Kait Colahan recorded a match-high nine kills, logging a .400 hitting-percentage, adding three block assists. Tyler Linkhart, Alana Bartulovic and Piper Ricketts each added eight kills between the trio.

Mack Ricketts dumped off four kills on nine attempts, adding 33 assists of Wittenberg's 42. Ricketts added two block assists to her total on the defensive side of the net. Ally White tallied three service aces from the back line, digging up eight Marietta attack while staying perfect on the serve receive.

The Tiger attack tallied 46 kills in the match compared to the Pioneers 29, holding Marietta to a .121 hitting percentage.

The back-and-forth battle between Wittenberg and Carnegie Mellon started early and continued on throughout the match. Leading the Tiger effort, Linkhart posted 12 kills to start the day on 38 swings. Kendall Black provided seven kills for the Wittenberg offense.

Jenna van der Biezen would get the momentum going from the service line recording four aces in 10 attempts.
