No. 16 Tigers Sweep No. 11 Otterbein From The Road

Westerville, OH – The newly minted, No.16 Wittenberg Tigers of the AVCA DIII Women's Volleyball poll swept the No. 11 Otterbein Cardinals 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-15) from the road. The Tigers put down 43 kills on 80 attacks with eight errors for an efficient .438 hitting percentage on the night. Wittenberg was stout defensively, recording five blocks at the net to the Cardinals one. With this win, Wittenberg improves to 6-1 on the season.

  • Tyler Linkhart continues to top the NCAC in kills/set, logging 11 kills on 19 swings with one error for a .526 hitting percentage in last night's sweep.
  • Katie Hiestand was flawless in 21 attack attempts, putting down a team-high 13 kills for a team-leading .619 hitting percentage. Hiestand joins Linkhart at the top of the charts as an NCAC statistical leader for kills/set.
  • Laney Yoder had an efficient night, dropping in five kills on eight attempts with one error for an even .500 hitting percentage. Yoder would go on to add two block assists on the night.
  • Mack Ricketts recorded a season-high five service aces, adding a solo block and a block assist to go along with her 35 of the team's 38 assists.
  • Wittenberg put together a sideout clip of .350 or better through the sweep, as the Tiger offense tallied a 14 of 26 clip with just one error in the second set.  
  • This is Wittenberg's third top 25 win of the season and third top 25 win in four matches.

  • Head Coach Evelyn Carus-Miller remains unbeaten in her match-ups against her alma mater, improving to 3-0 with this win. 

Wittenberg will return to action, making their home debut hosting their annual Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday, September 16-17. Wittenberg will open up the weekend on Friday night at 7:30 pm against Mount St. Joseph. The Tigers will return to action on Saturday for two matches starting with Asbury at 11:00 am and wrapping-up the weekend against Geneva at 2:00 pm.
