Tigers Suffer Road Loss At Denison

Granville, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger women's volleyball team suffered a tough 3-2 loss on the road at Denison on Wednesday evening [25-22, 11-25, 20-25, 21-25, 9-15]. Wittenberg had three Tigers post double-digit kills with Katie Hiestand and Hannah Schartz leading the way with 12 apiece. Hiestand tallied a team-high .256 hitting-percentage, coming up with 19 digs and two service aces. Tyler Linkhart added 11 kills to the Tiger offense on 48 total attacks, posting three blocks at the net. Wittenberg accumulated 49 total kills coming on 188 attacks for a .122 kill marker on the night.

The Tigers came out firing putting down 16 kills in the first set, logging a .227 hitting percentage to start the night. Dakota White came up with a team-leading 30 digs, trying to keep the Tiger offense alive, as the Big Red came back to take sets two and three. Mack Ricketts (32) and Ashley Brooks (10) combined for 42 of Wittenberg's 44 assists on the night. Wittenberg surged back in the fourth set as the two sides traded points, the Tigers held Denison to hitting just .023 and forcing 11 Big Red errors.

Wittenberg will return to action traveling to Carnegie Mellon University for the Tartan Invitational on October 29-30. The Tigers will open things up on Friday night taking on SUNY-Geneseo, returning to action on Saturday the Tigers will take on Mary Washington and Carnegie Mellon for their final two matches of the regular season.
