Tigers Celebrate Dig Pink Game With Rival Victory

Springfield, OH -- The Wittenberg Tigers hosted the DePauw Tigers on Tuesday night, defeating them in an electric 3-0 sweep. Wittenberg had their Dig Pink game for Breast Cancer awareness and all of the players showed off their pink ribbons in their hair in support. The Tigers won in three sets, going 25-12, 26-24, and 25-20 with a hit percentage of .254. Sophomore Tyler Linkhart led the attack with 12 kills and senior Katie Hiestand with 31 total attempts and 17 digs. Sophomore Mack Ricketts upped the front game with 22 assists, 62 attempted. 

The matchup was intense from the beginning, Wittenberg coming out swinging hard in the first set, playing with high intensity, hoisting 13 kills to DePauw's six. It was a back and forth battle of momentum in the second set where the Tigers of Wittenberg were held to a hitting percentage of .167 and the Tigers of DePauw only going .163. DePauw stalled towards the end of the third set, Wittenberg overpowering thier opponent 15 to nine in kills. Wittenberg showed their strength in long rallies and came away with another satisfying conference win, remaining undefeated in the NCAC.

The Tigers will be back for their Senior Day versus Kenyon on Saturday, October 23 at 1 p.m.
