Tigers Take Down Kenyon From The Road

Gambier, OH – The Wittenberg volleyball team earned a straight-set win over the Ladies of Kenyon College on the road on Saturday afternoon, taking the match 3-0 [25-18, 25-17, 25-18]. Wittenberg tallied a .220 attacking percentage on the day, putting down 38 kills on 118 attack attempts with just 12 errors. Katie Hiestand led the Tiger attack with 14 kills on 43 total attacks. Hiestand added 12 digs and two assists to her tally before the end of the match. Taylor Yontz led both sides with 29 digs, adding an ace and two assists to her credit.

Match Breakdown

Wittenberg fended off an early Kenyon attack, as the Red and White battled to take a 19-17 advantage over the Ladies. The Tigers collected a .293 attacking percentage through the first set, converting 41 total attack attempts for 15 kills with just three errors. Wittenberg kept the pressure up in the second set, posting a .171 kill percentage. The Red and White jumped out to an early 15-10 lead, maintaining a 23-16 advantage down the stretch, before taking the win. The Tiger defense held the Kenyon attack to a .000 attack percentage through the final two sets of the match. Wittenberg closed out the Ladies with a 25-18 third set win, collecting a .190 attacking percentage, putting down 12 kills on 42 swings in the final set.

Wittenberg will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 29 to host the Big Red from Denison University, closing out NCAC regular-season action at 7:00 PM from Pam Evans Smith Arena.
