No. 8 Tigers Fall To No. 2 Calvin In MIAA/NCAC Crossover Opener

Lansing, MI – It was a rematch of the 2018 NCAA DIII Regional Final, as the No. 8 Wittenberg women's volleyball team took on the No. 2 Calvin Knights in the first match of the MIAA/NCAC Crossover Challenge on Friday Night. The Tigers dropped the first match of the weekend 3-0 [25-21, 25-11, 29-27] in the battle of the Top 25. Wittenberg tallied 32 kills on the evening on 83 total attack attempts. Katie Hiestand led the Tiger offense with 10 kills, logging a .231 attack percentage with six digs to her credit. 

Match Breakdown

Wittenberg opened the match, putting down 14 kills on 21 attack attempts with just one error for a .619 swing percentage. Calvin slowed the Tiger attack in the second set, holding the Red and White to just seven kills on 24 attack attempts and forcing six errors. Sidney Reeder and Sarah Hettich added offensive support for Wittenberg down the stretch, with Reeder tallying six kills on the night and Hettich supplying seven. Ashley Brooks helped facilitate the offense with 22 assists.
