No. 3 Tigers Post 3-0 Win Over Otterbein On Senior Day

Springfield, Ohio – The third-ranked Wittenberg University women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 Senior Day win over Otterbein University on Saturday (10/27) afternoon. Prior to the match, the Tigers' five-member senior class was recognized for their continued dedication to the program over the last four years. The win moved the Tigers home record on the year to 8-0 and pushed their overall record to 20-2. The Tigers have now won 20 or matches in 27 consecutive seasons, with the streak starting in the 1992 season.

Who Stood Out:

The five-member senior class played a vital role in leading the Tigers to the key regional win, led by setter Karen Wildemann finishing the match with 34 assists, seven digs, three kills and two service aces. Offensively, middle hitter Kennedy Schmidt tallied eight kills and committed no hitting errors in 14 total attempts for a .571 hitting percentage, while outside hitter Taylor Brown also added five kills against just one hitting error in 14 total attempts for a .286 hitting percentage. In addition, classmates Madison Manger and Megan Flaherty contributed on the defensive side of the ball for the Tigers as they each finished the match with five digs a piece.

In addition to the contributions from the senior class, junior middle blocker Aubrey Cox continued her recent stretch of dominance with 11 kills and no hitting errors in 16 attempts for a .688 hitting percentage. Sophomore right-side hitter Haley Horner also contributed 11 kills against just three hitting errors in 22 total attempts for a .364 hitting percentage. Junior libero Taylor Yontz was also a threat on the defensive side of the ball with a team-leading 20 digs.

UP NEXT

The Tigers will now officially wrap up their regular season home schedule on Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. match against Earlham College. Wittenberg will then play host to the 2018 NCAC Volleyball Tournament next weekend, November 2-3. The Tournament opens with opening round matches and quarterfinal matches on Friday night at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., respectively, before concluding on Saturday with semifinal matches at 11:00 a.m. and the championship match at 5:00 p.m.
