#3 Wittenberg Makes it Six-Straight with 3-0 Win Over DePauw

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—#3 Wittenberg women's volleyball continued to exert their dominance amongst NCAC opponents on Tuesday, as the Tigers squared off against DePauw. Wittenberg stretched their winning streak to six in a row after a 3-0 victory over the visiting Tigers. Wittenberg made things interesting in the first set, trailing by as many as seven before coming roaring back to down DePauw 26-24. The Tigers of Wittenberg managed to take the next two sets 25-15 and 25-21, as the #3 team in the nation improved to 12-3 and 6-0 in NCAC play.

GAME NOTES

  • Wittenberg trailed early on in the first set of Tuesday's action, but thanks to Camila Quiñones finding her stride early on, the Tigers were able to find their stride and comeback from a large deficit.  
  • Freshman Olivia Nortz dominated the day, recording a career high eight kills and ten digs in a standout performance for the red and white.
  • As a team the Tigers slugged .205 on the attack, while holding DePauw to a .074 clip on the night.
  • Karen Wildemann produced a season and career high in assists on Tuesday, as the sophomore recorded 34 assists.
  • Wildemann's record night is the third consecutive match eclipsing the 30 assist mark, and her fourth overall in 2016.
  • Quiñones paced the Tigers with 13 kills, Maddie Fischer chipped in 11, while Nortz capped things off with eight.

  • "DePauw plays the most relentless, scrappy defense in the NCAC and they made us work for every point tonight… We are being forced to find new ways to win with each match we play as this team grows everyday," said Coach Labrador.

  • Wittenberg returns to action on October 15 with a pair of home matches, as Maryville and Otterbein travel to Pam Evans Smith Arena.
