Seidenstricker Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year Award

SPRINFIELD, Ohio— Former Wittenberg University volleyball player Kara Seidenstricker (London, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) has been nominated for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

The Woman of the Year award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in academics, athletics, service and leadership.

A 2015 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) first-team All-American selection, Seidenstricker finished her Tiger career as a four-time AVCA All-American, and the only Wittenberg player to ever do so in all four years of her collegiate career. The education major carried a 3.9 GPA through graduation at Wittenberg and is also the first three-time Academic All-America honoree in school history.

The 2012 NCAA Division III Freshman of the Year is also a three-time recipient of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Player of the Year Award. She helped lead the Tigers to the 2015 NCAA Division III National Championship match with an average of 3.03 kills per set. An outside hitter for Wittenberg, Seidenstricker recorded 3.74 digs per set with a .942 service reception percentage this season.

Seidenstricker ranks seventh in school history with 1,468 career kills, and she also ranks 10th in school history with 1,482 career digs.

The London, Ohio native is one of 517 athletes nominated across all NCAA divisions, which is the most nominations in the 26-year history of the award. The pool of nominees will be narrowed down to 30 honorees by the Woman of the Year selection committee. Then nine finalists—three from each division will be announced in September.

The top 30 selected will be celebrated and the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year winner will be announced at the annual award ceremony Oct. 16 in Indianapolis.
