Tigers Cruise Past Allegheny For Second NCAC Victory

MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Wittenberg Tigers capped a long weekend road trip with a 3-0 win at North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Allegheny.

Wittenberg scored the victory with sets of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-13 to improve to 12-1 overall, to including a mark of 2-0 in the NCAC. Allegheny, which has not defeated Wittenberg since 1996, fell to 10-6 overall and 0-2 in the league.

For the second straight day, Wittenberg attacked at a tremendously efficient pace, this time pounding 50 kills against just 11 errors in 111 attack attempts. That equals out to a .351 attack percentage.

Senior Kara Seidenstricker (London, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) and sophomore Maddie Fischer (Minerva, Ohio/Minerva) led the offense with 10 kills apiece, while senior Melissa Emming (West Chester, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) added nine kills. Freshman Karen Wildemann (Columbus, Ind./North) distributed 25 assists to lead the Tigers in that category.

Defensively, senior Kristina Fultz (Batavia, Ohio/Glen Este) finished with 15 digs, while senior Bryanna Jay (Girard, Ohio/Girard) topped the team in blocks with four.

The Tigers, who have won 53 straight NCAC regular season matches, continue their title defense with a home date against Denison at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, followed by a Homecoming weekend contest against Wooster at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.
